In recognition of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Face to Face Enrichment Center, along with Baton Rouge AIDS Society, All About HER, and the YWCA, hosted a Ladies Only Health Awareness Event. The event was held on March 5, 2010 and featured dance teams and musical entertainment. The event was hosted by Missy, a local radio personality. The women also received valuable HIV/AIDS information and resources. In addition, females who are personally infected/affected by HIV shared their compelling stories. Local health agencies/vendors also set up informational tables and provided the women with resources to assist them in taking charge of their health. The event was a huge success and was made possible through funding provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office on Women's Health.

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD) is a nationwide initiative celebrated on March 10 every year to raise awareness of the increasing impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls. Every 35 minutes, a woman tests positive for HIV in the United States. More and more women have become infected with HIV since it was first reported in the early 1980s. Today, about 1 in 4 Americans living with HIV are women. It’s time for women to get tested.
